Lucid Connections helps Anglo American realise a new Safety and Sustainable Development Strategy
Following the appointment of Anglo American's new Chief Executive, Cynthia Carroll, the company is reviewing its entire Safety and Sustainable Development Strategy. Last year Lucid Connections helped the company with its Extended Sustainable Development Forum. This year it is helping Anglo's SD team develop and communicate their 'One Anglo' Safety and Sustainable Development (SSD) strategy.
Lucid Connections is supporting three inter-related aspects of this plan - safety strategy, safety communications and Anglo American's wider SSD strategy.
On 8th June Cynthia Carroll led a Safety Leadership Summit in Johannesburg for the company's global executive team. Lucid Connections supported three interactive sessions on risk management, leadership and divisional planning. These were facilitated by Jay Greenspan of JMJ Associates; they were highly interactive and aimed at gaining real ownership of safety issues by top executives. Lucid Connections' Executive Producer, Ros McTaggart managed partner Crystal Interactive who provided the interactive wireless laptop system. Lucid Connections' consultant, Peter Davis, collated the outputs and fed them into a Safety Strategy report.
Following the Safety Summit, Lucid Connections is supporting Linda MacLeod Brown of Cardeas Consulting in the development of a Group Safety Communications Strategy which will help translate the intentions of the Safety Strategy into everyday practice across the business.
In parallel with the immediate safety work, Lucid Connections has also been helping Karin Ireton, Head of Sustainable Development in South Africa, with the company's wider SSD strategy. This has included writing a summary of last year's Extended SD Forum, facilitating a workshop with SD personnel in South Africa and co-authoring a paper on the company's SSD direction for consideration by the executive board.
